Laurie's

and parent education meetings. Eating disorders are starting
at younger and younger ages. Ages 12 and up learn from and
enjoy her music, education and story. Laurie speaks about
where eating disorders begin. Helping young people and their
parents to be aware of cultural pressures. Helping young people
to stay clear of diet mentality. Also, how to help a friend.

Laurie
speaks to young women like a friend. "I know because I have
been there" Laurie says, "These girls need to know that they
don't have to live with a constant obsession with food and
weight." Laurie helps students become advocates of a more
realistic ideal. Laurie's message is that "Beauty Lies Within".
Helping young people to see that what's on the inside is where
the focus should be. One of Laurie's songs has a multimedia
presentation of beautiful people, all shapes and sizes, from
all over the world.

is estimated that 11% of college age girls have eating disorders.
Studies have shown that most girls won't go to professionals
for help. But most would go to a friend first.

Centers
Laurie
has performed internationally for recovery centers and 12
step functions. She can speak not only to those in recovery
for eating disorders but also can provide education about
the addictive dance (moving from one addiction to another)
to drug and alcohol facilities. Her music and inspirational
message has helped many stay on the path to recovery.
